How do i make a School girl costume not skanky? please help!?

I'm making my school girl costume at home.

I have:

- a purple and black plaid pleaded skirt with lace trim.

- I white short sleeve button down.

-White Ankle Socks or my white leg warmers.

-Glasses.

-I was thinking pigtails for my hair/ just a side pony tail.

Am i missing anything?? Also my Boyfriend is pissed im doing this. He doesnt want me to look like a slut. How shud i tone it down??
Im so excited! thank you!

That's a good school girl outfit. Don't worry about toning it down. Do you have a simple gold necklace, with maybe a small gold heart? Wear a couple of simple bracelets. Also, the "rebellious" school girl out on a halloween night wears hers blouse out, not tucked in.

Pigtails are good. Try on the costume a couple of times with a gf, try out different make-up, hair. The key is not to make last minute decisions while putting the whole thing together for the first time on Halloween.

It's not slutty. The secret of that costume choice is in how you play the character - exaggerated innocence, naive. That way you control it being about the fun, and can keep from slutty.

Have fun!

What's the difference between 60's and 70's style of clothing?

We have decade days at my school:
50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's.

50's, I'm going to wear a button down white shirt, cuffed jeans, and a polka dot headband. 80's, I'm going to wear a side ponytail, leg warmers, off the shoulder hoodie, etc.

60's and 70's, I don't really get the difference. Tye dye / Peace signs? Or what about mod for 60's?

And any ideas for 90's? I'm totally stuck on that, too.

60s is definatly the era for mod prints and styles. I would wear something like a black and white dress with the white mod boots that you typically see with that type of outfit. Really any bright color shitft dress, or a dress with large geometric patterns would work. You could wear your hair with more volume all over but flipped out on the ends or For the 70's the style was more bohemian chic. This is also when disco was a huge hit so anything related to that style would work. Go to the sites i listed and they give plenty of information about fashion from past decades!
